Frank Everett Gebhard, 89, Beatrice, died on June 1, 2011, at Beatrice Good Samaritan Center. He was born on March 21, 1922 at rural Wymore, NE. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. Frank married Ruth Walker on June 30, 1987, at the First Presbyterian Church, Beatrice. In 1982 he retired from farming. He was a member of the Geddes-Thober Post 1077 of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars in Beatrice, Odell American Legion Post # 231, Disabled American Veteran’s, and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Diller.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Gebhard of Beatrice; step-son, Steven H. Walker and wife Pam of Gothenburg, NE; step-daughter, Janise Snyder and husband, Dave of Sugar Land, TX; step-grandchildren, Scott Snyder and wife, Jennifer, of Sugar Land, TX, Gregory Snyder and wife, Stephanie, of Waco, TX Daniel Walker and fiancée Myra Baumgartner of Lincoln, Mark Walker and wife Tabbi of Kansas City, MO, Anna Marie Walker of Wayne; 5 step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ila Johnson of Council Bluffs, IA; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by, parents, Folkert and Hilka (Henrichs)Gebhard; 1st wife, Twila (Walters) Gebhard; sisters, Marie Holz, Minnie Poppen, Hilka Huls, Clara Pretzer, Evelena Wenz, Christina Weers, and Elsie Giesman, one infant sister; brothers, Ben, Henry and one infant brother.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Harman-Wright Mortuary Chapel, Beatrice with Pastor Dr. Jimmy Shelbourn officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Diller. The body will lie in state at the Harman-Wright Mortuary on Friday, June 3rd from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. A memorial is established to the Odell American Legion Post #231 with the mortuary in charge. Harman-Wright Mortuary, Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
