Delores B. Bay, 83, Beatrice, died Sunday, June 05, 2011 at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Center. She was born July 10, 1927 at Ovid, Colorado. At the age of 2 her family moved from Colorado to Huntley, NE. When Delores was 9 years old she moved to Colorado to live with relatives and family following her mother’s death. She also lived in Chappel, NE and Sedwick, CO before moving to Filley, NE when she got married. She married Richard Bay on July 26, 1946 at Marysville, Kansas. They farmed and lived in the Filley area before moving into Filley in 1974. She worked at the Filley Locker for 22 years and also as the janitor of the Filley United Methodist church for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Filley, NE for 58 years until it closed. She belonged to the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday school for many years. She recently attended church at the American Lutheran church in Filley and the Pella church of rural Adams, NE. She
was also a Charter Member of the Fisher Post 367 American Legion
Auxiliary, Virginia, NE, and a lifetime member of the Eagles Auxiliary. She loved fellowship with her coffee group in Filley, enjoyed cleaning and worked hard all her life
She is survived by her son Howard D. Bay and wife Linda of Beatrice; daughter, Twila M. Seaman and husband Kirk of Lincoln, NE; 3 grandchildren Laurence Bay and Amanda Schafer and husband Jered of Beatrice and Jessica Faiferlick of Lincoln, NE; step great granddaughter Caitlin Schafer of Beatrice, NE 2 sisters Doris Samson of Denver, CO, and Detta Shanahan of Axtell, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Ruth (Keslar) Howsden; husband Richard (12/25/95) and 4 brothers Jake, Ike, Mike and James Howsden; 2 sisters Dorothy Urbain and Della Lee Davis
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Harman-Wright Mortuary, Beatrice with Pastor Doyle Karst officiating. Family prayer service 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be at Evergreen Home Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Harman-Wright Mortuary Tuesday (6/7/11) from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday. A memorial has been established to Fisher American Legion Post 367, Virginia, NE with the mortuary in charge.
