Lola A. Baker, 97 years of age, of Beatrice, formerly of Wymore
passed away at the Beatrice Manor Care Center Monday afternoon, June 27,
2011. She was born on December 9, 1913 in Smith County, KS. to Charles
and Rosa (Gardner) Buck. Lola and John Baker were married on October
8, 1940 in Seward, NE. and lived in the Wymore and Blue Springs area
until moving to Beatrice in 2000. She was a member of the Church of
Christ in Wymore and had been the Secretary/Treasurer for the Come Join
Us group and of the Esther Circle of the church, and was a former
member of the Quilters Guild. Lola was an avid reader and enjoyed
quilting, playing cards, crocheting, sewing, making pillow case dolls,
cooking and baking, and enjoyed daily devotions and writing in her
diary.
Survivors include her daughter Carol Scott and husband Clayton of Beatrice; granddaughter Kelle Scott of Omaha; grandson Jeffrey Scott and wife Bonnie of Lincoln; 1 great granddaughter Taylor Anne Scott of Lincoln. Lola was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Rosa (Gardner) Buck; husband John Baker (2005); 2 sisters and 1 brother.
A memorial has been established to the family's choice with the funeral home in charge.
Interment will be in the Wymore Cemetery.
The body will lie in state Wednesday from 10:30-9:00 at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore and at the church one hour preceding the service.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Church of Christ in Wymore with Pastor Gail Portenier and Pastor Clayton Lundstedt officiating. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. Thursday at the church.
