Tai Chi to be Offered at Bob and Wauneta Burkley Wellness Center
A 12-week session of Tai Chi Moving for Better Balance will be offered at the Bob and Wauneta Burkley Wellness Center beginning March 25 and continuing through June 12. The class is geared toward helping the older population with balance and relaxation. Participation is limited to the first 20 registered participants.
Tai Chi Moving for Better Balance is an exercise program proven to benefit health and prevent falls by 50 percent or more. It originates from China as a mind body practice and is sometimes described as “moving meditation.” Tai Chi was created to ease pressure on joints and encourage mobility and stability. It is a very gentle form of exercise that will also increase balance, flexibility, strength, endurance and mental focus/concentration. The Tai Chi movements are very relaxing and work together to reduce stress, blood pressure and the risk of falling. The movements can be performed sitting, standing or utilizing a chair for balance.
The Tai Chi Moving for Better Balance class will be held on Monday and Wednesday from 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Burkley Wellness Center.
Class size will be limited. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
