Fall Prevention Awareness Day is Sept. 23. Jefferson Community Healt hCenter and Jefferson Family Home Care want area residents to understand that falls and the resulting injuries are an important health problem for adults over age 65.  Among older adults injuries cause more deaths than either pneumonia or diabetes.

         JeffersonCommunityHealthCenterwill offer a Health Today program on falls on Wednesday, Sept. 28. The program will be “Falls: What do you need to know and What can you do to prevent them?” The program will be given by Kathy Helmink RN CDE, director of disease management, and Debbie Hellbusch RN, director of Jefferson Family Home Care. A light lunch will be available for a freewill donation beginning at 12 p.m., and the program will begin at 12:15 p.m. Pre-registration is required by calling Lana Likens at (402) 729-6855.
