Come help Celebrate at this years Linn Picnic running Thursday July 10th thru the 12th. Thursday Night features a parade, karaoke, Fireworks, Carnival and a food and beer garden. Friday features Figure 8 racing, Carnival, and Shawn Cole in the beer garden. Saturday is the Demo Derby, Carnival, Beer Garden and Free Dance by the Soul Preachers.

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) distribution clinic will be held in DAVID CITY (Butler, Polk, north Seward counties) Thursday, July 10. CSFP provides nutritious foods to persons who are age 60 or greater, children until they reach age six, and women who are pregnant or have had a baby in the past year. Qualified persons must live in Nebraska and be under the income guidelines. Foods given through CSFP include canned fruits, vegetables and juice; canned and dry milk; hot and cold cereals; canned meat; peanut butter and dried beans; cheese; pasta or potatoes. The Friend United Methodist Church will host their annual Ice Cream Social at the United Methodist Church in Friend, Nebraska on July 20 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. A Free will offering will be taken serving homemade Ice Cream, Pies, and Sandwiches.

Agriculture Safety Day will be held on Tuesday July 29th from 8:15 - 2:30 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Fairbury. This years Safety Day is the 11th annual event for the local chapter of Jefferson County Farm Safety Day is the 11th annual event for the local chapter of the Jefferson County Farm Safety 4 just kids. AUGUST
Friday, Aug. 8
A charity golf tournament to benefit the Jefferson Health Care Foundation has been set for Friday, Aug. 8, at the Fairbury Country Club.
The three-person scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. The 18-hole tournament will feature cash prizes along with pin prizes.
The entry fee is $210 per team. The field is limited to a maximum of 32 teams. The entry fee includes rolls and coffee beginning at 8 a.m., and lunch.
Hole sponsors are also available. Sponsorship is $450 and entitles the sponsor to recognition at the hole sponsored and on the tournament program, and one free team entry.
The Jefferson Health Care Foundation provides long-term support for Jefferson Community Health Center, a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital and 39-bed long-term care unit in Fairbury.

SEPTEMBER
Sept. 14
Area residents will have a chance to support the Alzheimer' s Association with a Memory Walk on Sunday, Sept. 14. The walk will be held at the Fairbury City Park, with registration beginning at 1:30 p.m. The walk will begin at 2 p.m.
An estimated 386 residents of Jefferson County and 44,000 residents of the state of Nebraska suffer from Alzheimer' s Disease. The Alzheimer's Association is available to provide respite care funding, education and support groups, in addition to working toward new treatments through research.
Each participant who raises $50 dollars or more will receive a Memory Walk t-shirt. Those who raise $300 or more will be able to select a prize.
Sponsors for the event are now being sought. For a $100 donation, a business or individual may have their name listed on the walk t-shirts. For a $250 donation, a logo may also be used.
The money raised by the Memory Walk will go to national research, education materials, Respite care, Operation Safe Return, and other programs of the Alzheimer' s Association.

Sept. 20
The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a 3-5 mile scenic walk taking place in more than 100 communities across the country this fall. Proceeds will benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, to fund research, education, survivor and awareness programs -- both to prevent suicide and to assist those affected by suicide. A walk will be held at Beatrice on September 20 beginning with registration at 9 in Chataqua Park. Call 239-0787 for more information.
